Summer wedding at Grand Hotel Karel V Utrecht

Let’s be honest: saying that true love knows no distance is a bit of a cliché. Then again: a cliché is a cliché because it works. Certainly in this case. If you’d ask L how far someone should go in the name of true love, we’re pretty sure what his answer would be. After all, he’s the kind of man that flies from Holland to Ghana (!) to ask a flabbergasted father for the hand of his daughter. And then sets up a wedding proposal involving planes, boats and an island in the North Sea in an effort that requires more coordination than the average special forces operation. Of course M said yes.

For a couple that could easily be labeled as globetrotters, it should be no surprise that their wedding had a very international touch to it. Frankly: the only thing close to home was the amazing wedding venue Karel V in their hometown of Utrecht, because even M's beautiful dress was African.

It was warm, personal, intimate and a privilege to attend. Here are just some of our personal favorites – including the two award winning wedding photographs that Leonard took ☺
